Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)

What is ASA?

ASA stands for Advertising Standards Authority, which advertises over all media. They deal with any complaints that are made about the media. It could be about misleading or offensive language that was used in the media. They have an advertising code, which they use to decide what should be shown on TV at particular times. There have been 4,161 ads that have been removed or changed due to their content that was in the adverts.

Adverts for Hot Fuzz:

ASA would make sure that Hot Fuzz Adverts don’t have any harmful language in their adverts if they decide to play them during the day due to young children might see the adverts.  So they will have to edit the advert so it doesn’t have any inappropriate language or scenes when it is shown during the day. They play the adverts of the movie after watershed, which is 8pm in UK so they can show the violence during that time for their adverts.
