Relevant Issues of Representation
Representations in Hot Fuzz:
Films will have representations that would be of different things that are in the movie; this could be a positive or a negative representation. Just like in Hot Fuzz it has negative representations of police officers as they make them seem like they are lazy and don’t take situations seriously.
Constraversial ideas:
The film raises some controversial ideas in society about the police and how they do their job. The way that they show this is by making the police look like they only sit down and eat and they are lazy and do not take their job seriously. One of the main actor named Nicholas Angel makes this stereotype not look type by him being hard working and being very passionate about his job.
Stereotypes in Hot Fuzz:
In the movie stereoypes were shown when they saw the boys in hoodies and thought that they were dangerous. This is a stereotype that we see now when police see boys in hoodies and believe that they are going to do something dangerous or bad. Another stereotype that we see in the film is when they make it look like all police officers are lazy and they dont do their job properly when they are called out.
